- Janis works in pastel and mixed media, painting landscapes and still lifes, in addition to her concentration on portraits. She is a founding member of the American Portrait Society, and a board member of the Martha’s Vineyard Art Association and the Austin Pastel Society, and is also affiliated with the Texas Pastel and Central Texas Pastel Societies. Her work has received awards from the Austin Pastel Society and the Texas Pastel Society and has been chosen for juried exhibits with the Pastel Society of Cape Cod, Texas Pastel Society and Austin Pastel Society. Her work is carried at the Old Sculpin Gallery in Edgartown, MA through her affiliation with the MVAA, and also was shown this summer at L'Elegance Gallery in Oak Bluffs, MA. Her work has been shown at numerous locations including the San Antonio Public Library, the Bright Shawl, the Round Rock Art Space, Chase Manhattan Bank Art Corridor and the Northwest Hills Gallery.
